The rub with the show, which continues through May 28, is that not all of its ingredients blend together to ensure a memorably pleasant aftertaste. Gopnik, a gifted writer known for his 30 years with The New Yorker magazine , makes his professional debut as a lyricist-librettist. He seems perfectly in sync with Shire, an accomplished composer with 50 years worth of success in composing for theater and film. David will still be able to bake his cake and serve it too. The audience is already ahead of the script. Sergio is slickly dressed and accompanied by Natasha Ann Horak , dressed in seductive black, spiked heels and speaking with a cartoonish-Russian accent. Yet, just when both David and Claire face their dark night of the soul, they find inner resolve through sage advice shared plainly by friends new and old.
